Description: The Boston W Hotel and Residences redefines the Midtown / Theater District area, and bolsters the high-end hotel living lifestyle options in the heart of the city. The Boston W is a $200 million mixed-use project, which includes a 235-room hotel, 123 residential condos, retail, restaurant and spa use, and 142 underground parking spaces.
The 28-story building has been designed by William Rawn Associates, in association with TRO Jung | Brannen, while the interior spaces of the development have been designed by Bentel & Bentel Architects, and Bovis Lend Lease is the general contractor. The development is currently slated for a late 2009 completion. Residential condos will range from studios to three-bedrooms, and residents can expect to pay approximately $1 per square foot in monthly HOA fees. All residential condos at the W Boston, except for studio units, will be accompanied by a parking space in the onsite garage.
The Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) originally approved the proposed hotel in June of 2001, then known as the Loews Hotel Project. Due to the economic downturn that followed the events of 9/11, the project was never constructed. The original proposal called for a larger hotel component without residential condo units, and a greater amount of space for restaurant and retail. Additionally, the Emerson College performance space that was included in the earlier proposal will now be located at the new, recently approved, Paramount Center project.
